Teams at Noggin Builders are a structured program for your child to build problem solving skills, teamwork and creativity while having fun and making friendships. They will improve patience, flexibility and communication. Combined with the real-life S.T.E.M. skills we will use to solve challenges, these are the building blocks that will help today’s children grow into tomorrow’s future leaders.

– Destination Imagination (DI) teams
– VEX Robotics teams
for grades 3-5, 6-8, and high school
Team Options
Pre Team Classes (Grades PreK - 2)
Weekly classess for PreK through 3rd grade help you child build skills in STEM and prepare for Team. Children who have participated in classes for at least one year, may be eligible to enter Team one year earlier than those who are new to Noggin Builders.
DI Prep (Grades 2-4)
Experience all the fun and skill building opportunites of a DI Team (see below) as you prepare the skills needed for future competition.
DI Prep will follow the same curriculum as a DI Team and prepare a solution to a complex STEM challenge. Instead of competition, they will present their solution in a showcase.
DI Team (Grades 3 - high school)
DI (Destination Imagination) Teams are groups of 7 children who work together to design and build a solution to a complex STEM challenge. They present their solution through a self-written performance at tournament.
DI Team members will enhance their creative problem solving, peseverence, flexiblity, communication, collaboration, and STEM skills!
-DI Teams practice 1x per week for 2 hours, during the whole school year
– DI Skills is highly recommended as a 2nd class and may be required for some levels of DI
– 1 year of prior Noggin Builders experience is required for participation on a DI team (3rd & 4th grade only)
Robotics Skill (Grades 3 - 8)
Build, drive and code robots using the VEX IQ Robotics system! Explore the fundamentals of robotics with “unplugged” games and activities designed to build foundational skills in engineering. Noggin Builders robotics program includes both hardware design and programming.
– One year of Robotics Skill is required before joining a competitive Robotics Team.
– Robotics Skill is required as an additional class for someone levels of Robotics Team
– This class is also ideal for children interested in robotics without competition.
Robotics Team (Grades 4 - 8)
Robotics Team members focus on enhancing their skills in robot design and coding while working together to build and code a robot for the VEX IQ Challenge tournament.
– One year of Robotics Skill is required before joining a competitive Robotics Team.
– Robotics Skill is required as an additional class for someone levels of Robotics Team
Joining a Team
Teams for 2022/2023 school year will form in April-May.
DESTINATION IMAGINATION:
All DI Team tryouts have passed. Team placements will be announced by June 1. After the original team placements, additional placements may be made if there is space available. (Teams typically fill very quickly.)
ROBOTICS:
Anyone wishing to join a Robotics team, must complete at least one year of Robotics Skill at Noggin Builders. Robotics Team information will be available in late May.
